A Love Affair for Bill and Betty

Fairs Are Real good...For Anybody!

Mom and Pop have gone to the State Fair for 45 years. They never missed a one. It is "Good for the soul" they say. They share fair wisdom by just staring quietly. Sitting quietly in the middle of a bustling crowd, they understand more than meets the eye.

Fairs take everyone back to the beginning. One becomes immediately average. No pretenses even get off the ground. You watch out for the horse or cow p**p as you slowly walk through the amusements. Here, you schlep what you buy. No Amazon delivery here. You can lose all sophistication jamming your face around a buttery, delicious hot, roasted yellow corn cob.  The barns smell like dirty sheep. You walk, eat, and stare.

Betty and Bill here are old-timers at the fair. They know it so well they can sit in one spot and see the whole thing. They don't really reserve the spot. Others seem to know it belongs to them and save it.

Bill and Betty have listened to many stories from fairgoers over the years. They have heard unrequited love stories of teenagers. They heard how the tractor was invented on machinery row and how much corn was harvested from the corn tent. It is impressive. They are REAL intelligence, not artificial.

This Dad and Mom have stories. They were once teenagers. They had a family with kids. They had dogs, rabbits, gardens, mortgages, teenagers, jobs, responsibilities, insurance, a aid off house, and finally, each other.

They come to the fair almost every day to sit, chat, eat, and watch.

It is all ending all ended up ok.
